By now, you may have heard that in Montreal, doctors can prescribe an alternative treatment to patients – museum visits!
Indeed, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and a Montreal doctor’s association launched a pilot project testing a treatment that immerses patients in a day of paintings, sculptures, exhibitions and, ultimately, relaxation. Thus, doctors may prescribe up to 50 of these prescriptions! This will allow up to 2 adults and 2 children entry into the museum. The MMFA website is quoted as “By offering free admission to a safe, welcoming place, a relaxing, revitalizing experience, a moment of respite, and an opportunity to strengthen ties with loved ones, MMFA-MFdc Museum Prescriptions contribute to the patient’s well-being and recovery”.
