The largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the twentieth largest in the world, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque stands as a breathtaking testament to Islamic architecture and spiritual grandeur. Welcoming up to 5 million visitors from around the globe every year, this iconic mosque is not just a place of worship but a symbol of cultural and architectural richness.
For the past 3 years, Orpheo has collaborated with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi, delivering a comprehensive visitor solution to enhance exploration and understanding of this iconic landmark. From providing visitor devices to producing immersive content and developing the app, Orpheo has been working alongside the Mosque to create a unique multimedia visit.
As part of this ambitious project, Orpheo provided a fleet of multimedia guides (Orpheo Touch) along with their chargers and Orpheo Airset open headphones. Chosen for its advanced capabilities, the Orpheo Touch multimedia guide provides visitors with augmented reality modules, interactive games and 360-degree views. These features facilitate the exploration of the mosque’s rich history and architecture.
To cater to diverse language preferences and cultural backgrounds, we developed a visit app available in 14 international languages, enabling visitors from around the world to fully immerse themselves in the grandeur of the mosque. Moreover, tailored tours have been scripted for all audiences, with tours dedicated to adult visitors, family tours, as well as tours in sign language and audio description, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all.
Advanced technologies like indoor geolocation and automatic triggering through Bluetooth enhance navigation and content delivery to visitors. We implemented a 3D mapping module into the app, providing high-quality and precise visualizations, as well as giving route indications to visitors.
Moreover, we supplied group tour devices (Orpheo TG) and their accessories to guide larger groups during the many guided tours led by the Mosque experts.
